Mrs. Munns
Principal

I have been in my dream job as principal of Sauganash Elementary School for 22 years. I am proud of our school community as we have always achieved the highest Chicago Public Schools SQRP rating and a perfect score, in the 2015-2016. We are proud to be a neighborhood school within Network 1.
I am proud of our staff and their professional accomplishments, and am committed to creating teachers as leaders to provide the most powerful learning experience academically, while producing well-rounded CPS students. We recently finished our third cohort of The Science Leadership Initiative program with Museum of Science & Industry, Teachers also partner with National Geographic, Lawyers in the Classroom, and The Field Museum to continue their learning to benefit our students.
I began my career in 1991 teaching all grades first through sixth grade then became a lead teacher for Pathways and Gifted schools within Robert Healy Elementary School. After being appointed as the curriculum director, I was accepted into the first year of LAUNCH for aspiring principals. I made a formal transition to school leadership through the LAUNCH, principal preparation program, a partnership with the Chicago Principals and Administrators Association, Northwestern School of Education and Kellogg School of Management. I served as the assistant principal at Sauganash for one year, before transitioning into her current role as principal. I was honored to be chosen into the Chicago Education Fund’s Fellowship Principal Program where she gained additional perspective.
I am married to my husband George! We have two kids Katherine and Little George. Katherine is a junior at University of Denver and George is a sophomore at Ole Miss.
