Hi My name is Mary McKenna, and I am so lucky to be a new member of the AWESOME 3/4th team here at Sauganash Elementary School! I was born and raised in Chicago and I have been a member of the Sauganash community my whole life. I attended Marquette University and received my teaching certificate at Loyola University Chicago.
This is not my first go around at Sauganash. Upon completing my student teaching, I was an assistant in the Kindergarten class at Sauganash School. The assistant at the time was leaving to have her baby and they needed help for the last few months of the school year. That class is now 30 years old!! Next, I worked in Norridge District 80 and taught Kindergarten until my children were born. In 2011, I came back to Sauganash as a substitute teacher and then a classroom assistant. It is so wonderful to be leading a classroom again, especially Sauganash. When I am not teaching, I love spending time with my family. I have two daughters in high school, one is a cheerleader and the other swims and plays water polo. My husband and I enjoy attending all their sporting events, seeing as many new movies in the theater as possible and taking walks. We feel blessed to be a part of this wonderful community and I am so lucky to teach at Sauganash!
