Hello! My name is Vicki Kurzydlo. I am a teacher of students with diverse learning needs and have been a member of Team Sauganash since 2005. Prior to teaching at Sauganash, I was an elementary school library media specialist. This is my 27th year as a Chicago Public Schools teacher. My formal education includes a BA in Elementary Education from the University of Illinois at Chicago, Masters Degrees in Special Education from the University of Illinois at Chicago and Instructional Technology from Northern Illinois University, an endorsement in ESL from Dominican University, and a Type 75 administrative certificate from National Louis University.
Sauganash Park has been home to my family for the last eight years. I feel extremely grateful to live in such a wonderful community! For recreation, my favorite thing to do is to spend time with my family. We love to order take-out on Friday nights and play board games together. I also enjoy reading, gardening, cooking, raising species orchids, and practicing Kundalini yoga. I am a proud member of the Chicago Teachers Union and honored to be our school's delegate. I am an animal lover and ardent vegan. Autumn is my favorite season and Halloween is my favorite Holiday...I love reading scary books and watching horror flicks! Someday, I hope to do more traveling and would begin with a visit to Fairbanks, Alaska to see the Northern Lights.
